Exmouth United 3, Moors Youth 2

United fully deserved all three points at home to a side who arrived in Exmouth having scored 49 goals in their first five games of the season.

Billed as a top of the table clash the contest certainly lived up to that title! United made a bright start and went ahead in the fifth minute when Sam Western ran through the visiting defence to score.

Western doubled his tally after some superb approach play in midfield and United took a 2-0 advantage into half-time.

After the break the Tiverton-based side increased the tempo and halved the deficit from a corner. They then went in search of an equaliser and were denied one by a spectacular Ed Hurley save.

Hurley was beaten with 10 minutes remaining and again the source of United’s undoing was a corner. Back came United and they claimed a late, but deserved winner, when Ollie Toomey netted after some more fine build-up play by team mates.

Both teams contributed much to a thoroughly entertaining match in which there was outstanding sportsmanship from both sides.
