Budleigh Under-11 won their Hardball Pairs South Section game against Ottery St Mary, writes SpursTom.
Captain for the day, Jack Wastenage made a significant contribution with bat and ball, but it was the all round Man of the Match performance by Tom Real which was the ultimate highlight.
Ottery St Mary’s innings consisted of only two boundaries whilst they also lost six wickets, five of which were clean bowled and one was a run-out as they closed on 139.
Young Real finished with splendid figures of 3-7 and he was also responsible for the run-out.
Charlie Levi claimed 2-12 whilst the other bowlers, none of whom got wickets but all bowled tidily were, Abby Horne, Jack Wastenage, Matthew Edworthy, George Salter and Joseph Day.
The reply served up even partnerships down the order.
Tom Real and Matthew Edworthy (14), George Meesom and Jospeh Day (17), Abby Horne and Charlie Levi (19) and last, but certainly not least, Jack Wastenage and George Salter (14).
Wastenage was the top individual scorer with 11 runs.
Just two wickets were lost along the way leaving Budleigh as deserved winners.
