Both the Woodbury Park course and the members are coping well with the winter conditions and there were some excellent scores recorded in the mid-week competition, albeit helped by some forward winter tees, writes Carole Pye.

Richard Thomason impressed with 45 points giving him the first division ahead of Steve Jarman (43) who nudged Andrzej Sobczak into third position on 42.

The seniors also had a very good turnout with over 40 taking part in the second round of the Winter Eclectic. Andrzej Sobczak took the first division with 41 points followed by Mike Dillon on 37. Returning a score of 42 points gave Brian Leonard the second division ahead of three players all scoring 41.

After countback, Terry Tilbury was declared the runner-up ahead of Robert Hayman and Mike Dickens.

The weekend competition was a “3 Ball Team Event” which attracted over 80 players. The winning slot went to Simon Hoye, Lee Nattrass, and James Askew with a score of 91.

After countback, Paul Hayes, Richard Jenner and Dave Cooling (89) were declared runners-up. The winter weather or the Christmas shopping depleted the ladies’ field which Norma Foster, Kay Foster and Bridget Leonard led with 80 points.
