Terrorpins beaten by Frank Boys in Woodbury Skittles League match

10:42 13 March 2014

The Terror Pins were hoping not only to gain revenge for the earlier defeat, but also increase the gap between themselves and their opponents Frank Boys, from Newton Poppleford, last Friday, as they both attempt to beat the drop into the League D, writes SpursTom.

Having played the same number of games each, the hosts went into the match four points ahead of the opposition who won the toss and decided to throw first. Frank Boys not only started with a score of over 60, but did the same in the next three legs to win them all, legs five and six were also taken giving them an average of 62 per leg. The Terror Pins play was on a par to what they have been all season; about 55 per leg, which is exactly what they scored to take the sixth by a single pin to be 41 adrift. Remarkably, there was almost a twist to the tale, because for some reason Franks Boys then knocked down only 35 pins, with Terror Pins requiring 77 Sunset Strip for victory, but falling 20 short of that target. Their only consolation was the outstanding play of David Hicks recording a personal best of 69 for top player of the night two more than Andrew Retter of Franks Boys.

With teams having approximately six games still to play each the relegation outcome could hinge on the final fixture.
