Terror Pins played three very important Woodbury Skittles League matches in a week in their fight against the drop, write SpursTom.

First on the list was the daunting task of trying to slow down the progress of the current League C leaders. Aylesbeare arrived at the Feathers Inn having won 11 out of 12 played.

The hosts, who are lingering in the bottom three, surprisingly took three of the eight legs on the night, but Aylesbesare’s superior finishing saw them triumph by 28 pins, exactly the same margin by which they won the previous meeting. Linda Hicks topped scored for Terror Pins.

Next up a short drive to the Railway Club in Exmouth for a meeting with The Sleepers, hoping to reverse the result of last September. The Terror Pins started well, but trailed at the halfway stage. Then, both luck and steady throwing won the team from Budleigh the last four legs, and victory by 13 pins.

Chris Gatter, Henry Yates and Conrad Thomas led the fight back.

The final match of the trio was a trip to Sidford’s Blue Ball for the re-arranged game against Rough Riders.

This turned out to be a more even contest with only four pins the difference after both the fourth and final legs.

The first advantage went to Terror Pins, but the hosts came back strongly especially in leg six, held their nerves and the lead, as the visitors reflected on missed opportunities to at least share the points.
