It is with sadness I have to report the death of Steve Gatter, himself an ex-skittle player and father of Terror Pins present skipper Chris, writes SpursTom.

Condolences are sent from Terror Pins, The Feathers Inn and many folks from the Budleigh area.

It was a very sombre mood in the Terror Pins camp, as they only knew of the situation by the absence of influential captain and his wife Sue, also a team player.

There was a welcome return for Tony Gooding after his operation, but the late withdrawal of Linda Hicks with an injured wrist meant surprising and unexpected participation for two other players.

The match itself was a low scoring affair with neither side really dominating.

Terror Pins held a slender lead for the majority of the game, but lost their 100 per cent record when the visiting Floppers won the decisive final leg to triumph by three pins (438-435).

The irony of all this is that the game was re-scheduled from its original date because Floppers were having team problems.

David Hicks scored a personal best total, but Henry Yates emerged as the kingpin for Terror Pins on the night.
