Ellie Sutcliffe has been flying the Exmouth Harriers flag in the North of England and North Wales, writes Dave Eveleigh.
She ran the Harrogate 10km in 40:58, was sixth woman home and 60th overall.
Sutcliffe singled out this race because it takes runners past the home of her 97-year-old grandmother who has heard of her grand-daughters exploits by letter and telephone but never seen her race, a touching motivation!
She then ran Holyhead Breakwater five-mile race on Angelsey, the breakwater in question being two miles long, though it felt more after she turned into what she described as: “the most monstrous headwind I’ve ever encountered in a race”.
She managed to overcome the headwind to finish first woman in a highly respectable 32:20, and ninth overall.
