Exe 3, Yate 2

Exe faced a tough Yate team and this was evident in the first half ending in stalemate with no goals scored, writes Lizzie Jane.

Exe started the second half well and were rewarded with an early goal when Clare Whitworth followed up from Kelly Luscombe’s corner strike.

Exe then made it two on 55 minutes when Laura Allen converted Molly Coleman’s pass, following a pass out of defence from Whitworth.

Three minutes later Yate were back in it, but, within two minutes, the two goal lead was restored when Coleman netted.

Once again Yate responded swiftly to make it 3-2 after 65 minutes, scoring from a penalty corner strike.

The last five minutes saw Yate press, but Exe stood firm, controlling the ball well and not giving sufficient room to enable Yate to net a leveler.
