Sidmouth competition win for Richardson at Exmouth Sea Angling Association meet

With a very brown and rough sea at Sidmouth the competition secretary made the decision on the night to move to calmer waters, writes Robert Pennells.

That involved everybody moving back to Exmouth and the less wind-swept Shelley beach.

Fishing was difficult and just a single flounder was caught and that was under size so it was returned unharmed to the sea.

All but one angler managed to get into a few lovely slimy silver eels which were also returned unharmed from where they came!

The eventual winner was Mike Richardson with a pair of eels and a rockling.

Second place went to Brian (Viking) Reed with a pair of eels and third was Andy Browning who also had pair of eels.

The best specimen of the night went to Reed with an eel weighing 1.06lb.
