Withycombe Under-11s made the short trip to Topsham and returned to Exmouth with three excellent victories and two clean sheets.

Withy played two Topsham sides and also met a touring team from Gordano.

First up against Topsham Lights Withy, with some players in experimental positions, started well.

Harry Hawkins, playing at scrum half kept the opposition on their toes while Jack Wastanage, playing in the second row, had a fine game often running into the heart of the opposition breaking many tackles.

Finley Frazer ran hard which resulted in two fine tries with Kyle Parry scoring after

the forwards hand picked and drove several times with Withy winning 21-0.

Next up Withy took on Topsham Darks and the players were shuffled around again, but once more they started well.

They were unable to break down a resilient Topsham until well into the second half.

Keeping their shape well, playing up the hill, the teams’ patience paid dividends as good support play by Joe Blyth followed by an excellent pass gifted Ben Bolwell a try.

Jason Farrant then added a second after another fine pick and drive. Topsham pulled one back on full time to leave Withy 14-7 victors.

The final game was against Gordano and the Withy ranks included a number of Topsham players – this so that no youngster exceeded the 40 minute playing rule).

A strong Gordano team tired after a couple of days touring and were beaten 14-0. Oscar Moyle and Lucas White were successful with conversions.
