Archant

Withycombe Under-15s put in a powerful show to comfortably defeat hosts Crediton, beating the Mid Devon side 64-17.

In what was only their second outing of the new season, Withy were dominant in all areas of the game and ran in five tries either side of half-time.

All the Withy players made a concentrated effort to tackle hard, getting numbers to the break down to secure own ball before shipping out wide to send in numerous fast-pace running attacks, often assisted by deft kick and chips over the defence.

Despite the score line, Crediton made Withycombe work hard throughout, often out rucking them at the breakdown.

Crediton didn’t drop their heads and secured three well-deserved tries in the second half.

The Withy try scoring saw two each for Finn Musgrove, Will Cornish, Joe Graham and Matt Shaw-Smith and one each from Jordan Cooke and Will Cooper.

Will Cooper also slotted six conversions with Matt Hicks also bagging a conversion.

The Withy Man of the Match awards went to Joe Graham for great attacking running from full back and to Will Cornish for making determined breaks and recycling the ball.

Another player to mention is Solomon McIntyre, who made his debut for the side in the game.
