Withycombe Under-12s after their Frestival success at Cleve

Withycombe Under-12s claimed a second Festival success inside a month when they triumphed at Cleve last weekend.

The competition saw six teams compete against each other in the opening stages with three points up for grabs for a win and one for a draw with the team with the most points at the end of the day being crowned champions.

Withy started against Matson which saw Withy claim a 2-1 success. Next up, against

Llandaff the Withy scrum was dominant and this allowed good possession leading to a 1-0 Withy win. Hosts Cleve were next and this close encounter ended all square at 0-0.

The largest side on duty, Keynsham were next and, despite their greater size, Withy rose to the challenge to secure a 3-1 win after playing their best rugby of the competition.

That left the final opposition being St Marys against whom Withy knew a victory would see them crowned champions.

A 4-1 triumph was secured with another fine display of running rugby.

Withy were complemented by referees and opposition alike for the way they approached the tournament and for the splendid rugby they produced throughout.
