On the first dry Sunday in the new year Withycombe Under-8s and their Sidmouth counterparts welcomed England Rugby legend Jo Yapp to Raleigh Park for a one off master class, writes Mark Long.

Yapp was on hand after being invited by the Withies and, the 70 times capped twice World Cup Finalist, passed on some of her knowledge to 40 very willing and eager players.

With the sun shining all made the most of this very special opportunity.

A ninety minute training run out was followed by a question and answer session whilst left all players, parents and coaches suitably impressed.

Jo was also very pleased with the skills on show, and left with best wishes for both clubs.

Withycombe coach Simon Lawrence commented: “This has been a fantastic morning for the club and players to have had this chance. Many thanks to Jo for taking the time to engage with the youngsters.”
