Withycombe Under-14s continued their fine winning run with a 40-5 success over Brixham at Raleigh Park.
Brixham made a strong start and Withy were forced to defend, something they did with both control and discipline.
Then, as Brixham ran out of support at a ruck, Withy flanker Olly Willis pounced and got his hands on the ball. Brixham were penalised for holding on; Willis took a quick tap, and number eight Jimmy Griffin crashed over in the corner. Full back Harry Bennett slotted a fine conversion from wide out to see Withy into a 7-0 lead.
Soon after, centre Jude Baker-Hands made a powerful run down the middle before quick hands found the pacy Bennett, who crossed and then got up to slot the extras to make it 14-0.
Immediately from the restart, Griffin caught the ball, drove down the middle and offloaded to Willis, who in turn offloaded to Bennett who mirrored what he had done a minute earlier to score his second try.
Brixham hit back, but again got little change out of some impressive Withy defending and, after numerous Brixham phases, they lost the ball and Baker-Hands gathered it and made a pitch-length run to score a fine solo try.
The final score of the first half began with Withy winning a scrum against the head from which the backs passed well to find Bennett, who applied a polished finish and again he slotted the extras for Withy to troop off at the break with a 33-0 lead.
From the restart Brixham knocked on and the alert Willis showed his football skills by dribbling the ball over the line before dotting down and fly half Paddy McGuinnes converted. Brixham battled on and did manage a late try, but Withy were not to be denied the match honours after another powerful all-round team performance.
