Archant

Withycombe Under-10s were beaten in their two meetings with Topsham.

Once again to accommodate the large numbers they have at Withy this season, two balanced sides were fielded.

First up the Withy Green played their part in an absorbing and close contest.

They trailed 3-1 at one stage and very nearly forced a draw, only to succumb to a late match sealing Topsham score!

A strong opposition side proved a really good test for the withy youngsters and they competed very well with a mixture of great spirit, ferocious tackling and some exciting attacking passages of play.

Thomas Humphry, Eddie Warlow, Will Cooper and Will Cornish were the four Withy try scorers whilst the Man of the Match award went to Matt Rye for a good solid all-round shift.

Withy Black were engaged in what was a much more one-sided affair which Topsham won with something to spare.

Despite the 8-1 score Withy showed character throughout, battling to the end with encouraging sequences of probing attack when in possession.

Jayden Gore was the Withy scorer whilst the Man of the Match award went to Ben Wilkinson all round good effort
