Archant

Withycombe Under-8s travelled to Kingsbridge where they were engaged in a superb encounter.

The ten strong Withy playing party found themselves up against a large squad of 22 in the Kingsbridge camp!

The game began at a high tempo. There was some exceptional calling, passing, catching, tagging and running. It was all text-book action and very good on the eye!

Ebony Mardle got the first Withy score with support from Jayden Marles and Freddie Burnard.

Burnard swiftly bagged a try for himself, but this was then answered by a run of three tries by the home side who claimed a narrow half time lead.

After the break the speed and raw spirit of Ebony Mardle was very evident and she again crossed the home line.

Jayden Marles and Jack Greaves then also scored, but back came Kingsbridge with three more to lead 6-5.

In the final minute Ebony Mardle burst through to score her hat-trick try and seal a 6-6 draw.

Withy squad: Ebony Mardle, Joe Gosling, Freddie Burnard, Jack Greaves, Tom Waiton, Tom Pidgeon, Curtis Fraser, Lewis Alford, Baxter Williams and Jayden Marles.

Withycombe are looking to add to their team with some new players in the coming weeks so if you are interested in joining a friendly bunch for training and playing either make your way to the club on a Sunday morning at 9.45am for a 10.00am start or call Gary on 07854 565852 for more details.

  • Well done to all. Good to see that the under 7 picture can be used but no sign of the match reports on either website or in paper.
