Exmouth going down with some fighting spirit after Southend are sunk at the Imperial Ground

Exmouth recorded a famous win in the dying embers of their one-season stay in the National Two (S) when they defeated Southend 34-27 at the Imperial Ground.
James Harris and David Bargent both bagged braces of tries after Alistair Hill scored the Cockles opening try.
Ina see-saw game the Cockles had trailed 17-0 after just 13 minutes, but they powered their way back and, after 40 minutes, led 22-17.
The visitors then regained the lead to hold a 27-22 advantage after 46 minutes.
However, the final third of the contest belonged to the Cockles as they powered their way to claim a deserve victory.
George Meadows slotted three conversions and also scored a penalty.
The game was watched by 147.
