Cullompton 3, Exmouth 2nd XV 51

Exmouth 2nd XV travelled to Cullompton determined to get back to winning ways after losing their previous two fixtures against Barnstaple and Brixham.

Fly half Chris Hitchcock got the team on the front foot early on with penalty following good work from player-coach Max Hansford.

Five minutes later number eight Milo Reynolds made sure of the touchdown at the back if the scrum when the front row of Shane Cooper, Jack Madge and Josh Sargent destroyed their opposite numbers to force a pushover try.

Matt Garner was next to show his skill with a fine individual run resulting in a try that was converted by Hitchcock, bringing the score to 15-0 after as many minutes.

Cullompton struck back with a penalty, but The Cockles responded with two catch and drive tries from line-outs.

First up, former Exeter Chiefs apprentice Ian Dunstan scored and that was followed by a score from front row powerhouse Shane Cooper.

The veteran Hansford dashed over for the final try of the half following good handling from both forwards and backs leaving the Cockles going into the break with a 32-3 lead.

The second half saw the Cockles make another bright start and, just four minutes in, Richard Small went clear only to dive over the wrong line!

However, the next score was not long arriving with Matt Garner claiming his second of the match as he ghosted between both opposing centres to score under the posts.

Milo Reynolds completed the scoring with a brace of tries inside six minutes and the match ended in another big win for the Cockles.
