Exmouth Under-12s show no signs of long lay-off with impressive win over Crediton

Exmouth Under-12s made a long overdue return to action and showed little signs of rustiness as they won 26-21 at home to Crediton.
The Mid Devon side pitched up four players short and so the young Cockles provided players to make up the numbers!
Eddie Ford, Arron Lee, Harry Neath Rogers and Ben Stuart were the quartet of home p[layers who willingly pulled on the Kirton kit to take on their club mates!
Early exchanges were dominated by the Cockles and it was not too long before Owen Tidball, playing full back for the day, caught a high clearance kick deep in his own half and just in from touch, he was quick to run the ball back at Crediton and offloaded to Ben Dawson who scored and then converted the days first try.
The conditions were not good for expansive play as the pitch was heavy and there was a strong wind blowing which later turned to rain, but both teams played well to make it a thrilling game to watch. Ford set up another try for Crediton and Neath Rogers claimed a third, but this was matched by Exmouth tries from Luke Davis, Owen Tidball and another from Dawson. Jarrad Palmer was also having a good game and showing great promise as a strong second row forward alongside Vinnie Neath Rogers.
It was a game which was played in great spirit and there was some wonderful moments where the training showed with some slick passing and direct running particularly from Richard Forrest, but perhaps in part due to the weather the ball was lost in the contact areas a few times so this gives the Exmouth lads something to work on before their next encounter. The Exmouth lineout was working well throughout and after a poor first scrum generally Exmouth were working well in this area too.
