Withycombe Under-9’s started their first season of contact rugby with a convincing win over the visiting Newton Abbot.

The scores were spread across the board with birthday boy Charlie Passmore scoring four tries and Joe Farmer grabbing three.

Harry Williams (2), Erin Asselman, James Griffin, Jack Cortizo, Paddy McGuiness and Man of the Match Alfie Gillard were the other scorers.

Withy’s Ian Skinner said: “The way the boys took to tackling for the first time was a delight for the coaches and spectators to see and just as pleasing was how quickly they supported each other at the breakdown. Plenty more to work on, but well done Withycombe.”

Next up is a trip to meet Paignton.
