Robins bag imnportant Woodbury Skittles League success

10:42 13 March 2014

Over the years the Robins have been the more dominant and successful of the skittles teams from Budleigh Salterton Football club ahead of main rivals the Cock Robins, writes SpursTom.

This season these two well established teams find themselves heavily involved in the race for the Woodbury Skittles League top honour and I have to admit that I would be extremely happy if either of them were to achieve this accolade.

The first meeting this season went the usual way with victory to the Robins by a margin of 38 pins. Since that reverse the Cock Robins have steadily climbed the table and have overtaken them to stand second with the other Greenway Lane outfit in third spot.

Somehow, both teams seemed subdued, with hardly any banter between them as we witnessed a very close match, even the individual top score of 63 was shared; Roger Pollard for the hosts, and Darren Everest for Cock Robins.

Robins won five legs by one, two, one, five and two pins respectfully in a total of 445. The other three legs went the visitor’s way by three, three and nine as they mustered 449. These four extra knock downs were enough to give them a rare triumph in competitive contests against each other. It puts them further ahead and closer to the league leaders.
