The Exmouth Sea Angling Association held their Open Weekender event with plenty of competitors signed in seeking to bag a few of the larger summer species, writes Bob Pennells.
This is a competition that requires entrants to present post-match only the single best specimen of two different species.
Anglers chose top fish in all areas; North, East and West.
There were a few mackerel caught, but none of any size and, much to the anglers frustration, no smoothounds were caught.
However, dog fish did make an appearance as did silver eels, wrasse, bass and a lone flounder.
Mike Richardson claimed first place with Brian Reed taking second and David Currie came third.
The best fish landed proved to be a small eyed ray of 6.60lbs landed by Garry Bowden.
