The Budleigh Hawks and Falcons played out a very close match in the Coast Wealth Management Evening League as the two teams met each other again within a few days, writes David Roberts.

This time it was the Hawks who gained revenge with an overall one shot victory having lost out in the previous match.

The Hawks, comprising Leighton Burston, Dick Mitchell and Brian Evans, came from behind with a strong finish to see off the Falcons of Derek Stanley, Keith Edwards and Terry Kelly 19-12.

On rink two the Falcons of Gerrard McCarthy, Terry Escott and skip Brian Crook played well, achieving a similar score, winning through 20-14 against Brian Ward, Brian Goddard and Peter Burch.

This was after the Hawks drew level on the twelfth end only to see the Falcons take eight shots in the closing stages.

In the Tuesday morning Triples League there were wins for Willow as Mike Clark, John Dill and Margaret Avery won convincingly 22-10. In a much tighter affair the Oak team, represented by Bob Gooch, Melissa Camp and Bob Clifford, held it together to take their rink 20-17.

A mixed away friendly match against Maderia between Christmas and the New Year is the last fixture of the year with the New Year kicking off with the men in an Over-60s match with Exonia.

January looks to be a busy time for the club with the men particularly active as cup matches are played in addition to the normal league fixtures.
