In the top table clash of the Exmouth Snooker League, defending champions, Police Social Club A inched a single point lead after winning at second place Number Nine B.
Mark Rock 67-59 and George Webster 89-75 were caught by Chris Sharland 47-34 and Russell Frame 62-38 before Pete Abrahams 74-47 won the decider.
Third place East Budleigh A were level after four frames at the Police C through Graham Ward 83-42 and Mark Auton 64-62.
However, Steve Spinner clinched victory for the home team (47-39) following the earlier gains of John Parrott 74-46 and Cyril Evans 60-53.
Yet another close encounter was played out at East Budleigh C as Leo Dolling 46-31 and Rob Marsden 52-12 were matched by Iain Callander 72-41 and Dan Brown 98-60 of the Number Nine A.
With Barry Bentley’s fifth frame decider (72-43), East Budleigh C hold fourth place thanks to this extra match win.
Otterton A are the only team still to record a win after a quarter of the season so far.
Patrick Long 63-43 prevented a whitewash from the Police B, who themselves gained their first victory from John Spamer 40-16, Pete Gibson 47-32, Frank Kelsey 58-49 and Bob Horton 53-12.
