Last Thursday Park travelled to close neighbours Madeira, for a three-rink ladies triples and a men’s four-rink match, writes Mike Pope.
The ladies lost on two rinks and won on one.
The winning rink was Eileen Burnham with Gill Harding and Marg Lock who scored 22 shots to 11 and the ladies lost by four shots overall.
The men had more success and won on three rinks out of the four. John Relph skipped John Robins, Paul Beresford and John Whyte to win by 16 shots to 15 on the last end while John Dill led his rink of Peter Burch, Rob Mottershead and Jim Letten to another single shot victory of 25 shots to 24.
Honours of the day go to David Martin’s rink of Mike Pope, Brian Halsey and John Anderson who won by a creditable 26 shots to 15 giving Park an overall win by four shots.
All agreed that a draw was the fairest result. Thank you, Madeira, we had a great afternoon.
