Ottery St Mary will run a third eleven in the Francis Clark Devon League next season.
The Otters have had a thriving youth section for many years and in next year’s east Devon Youth League campaign they will field no fewer than ten teams which is three more than the next best – that the seven entered by Exeter CC!
The fact that the Otters have so many youth teams means that by running a third eleven in the County league they will be able to provide cricket on different levels throughout their club.
Next summer the senior side will play in the C Division and the 2nd XI will take their place in the second tier of second eleven cricket when they begin life in the A Division.
The third eleven will make their historic debut on the cricket ground of Kings School, Ottery St Mary on Saturday May 3 when they entertain Feniton II. They are away at Upottery seven days later and then end the first month of the season with a trip to Topsham St James followed by a home game with Thorverton III and a visit to Exwick.
June begins with a visit to North Devon and the picturesque home of Filleigh II after which they host Kenn II visit Cullompton II and then entertain Exmouth III on the final Saturday of June. In July the Otters will travel to Feniton, host Upottery and Topsham St James and then go to Thorverton III.
The final month of the campaign sees them host Exwick II and then Filleigh II before a trip to Kenn, a last home game against Cullompton II and they bring the curtain down on their first season with a trip to Exmouth III.
