Russell Frame 69-48, Tim Thorne 45-27 and Jonathon Duck 58-46 went one better than Dion Newcombe 74-70 and Dan Brown 59-29 of stable mates Number Nine A.

But, their lead could have been more, as they lost the first four frames at the Police Social Club A, where George Webster 79-48(30), Pete Abrahams 73-25, Andrew Binmore 47-37 and a 34 clearance for Mark Rock (59-57) were denied maximum points by Dave McCarthy 94-36.

Police A, despite a 3-2 win over the Police C through Mark Rock 73(30)-46, Carl Rowsell 83-65 and Bob Martin 68-53, they stay 6th, in the table as Trevor Hayman 81-55, Rob Marsden 50-42, Leo Dolling 49-7 and Barry Bentley 57-26 of East Budleigh C fell one short of a nap hand by Andrew Binmore 56-29.

East Budleigh C sit one point behind the two leaders as Rob Marsden 67-35, Mark Oliver 60-25, Trevor Hayman 80-58 and Barry Bentley 88-36 recorded another 4-1 win at the Number Nine A after a narrow defeat at the Police B. Rob Marden 46-40 and Mark Auton 87-59 won the first and final frames respectively, but the in between games went to Bob Horton 49-19, Kevin Morgan 58-26 and Ted Parkin 66-12.

Police B stay at the foot of the table, but, with a game in hand. Frank Kelsey 51-47, Bob Horton 65-57, Kevin Morgan 58-38 and Phil Rowsell 72-61 beat the Police C. They, in turn are second thanks to John Parrott’s win in this match 64-58 and Cyril Evans 58-28 and Ray Sturman 63-56 taking the final two frames against the Police A.
