New second team boss Mark Murrin saw his charges claim a single goal success.

Murrin fielded a much-changed side with no fewer than six of the former Ottery St Mary players and they were good value for the three points.

Playing some neat passing football the Lympets were strong and resolute at the back where Peter Smith combined well with And Chris and the full-back pairing of Eynon Dan Griffiths and Connor Breslan gave the side good width in the defensive third.

Youngsters Liam Mabin and Ben Newman settled into the system well amongst their more senior team mates.

New players Richard and James Hudson bossed the midfield whilst another of the news boys, Sam Elstub, scored the decisive goal ten minutes from time and linked up impressively with the powerful Hayden Figures. Another of the new signings Andrew Braddick kept a second half clean sheet after taking over from Scott Clayton between the posts at the break and Dave Phillips came off the bench and gave his usual fully committed contribution.

Boss Murrin said: “It was all very pleasing. I was delighted with how quickly the news lads settled in. What I like is the sprit that’s clearly there. It’s a squad game these days and every player in the squad has equal importance in the grander scheme of things in my eyes. Of course, they cannot all play every game, but they all play an important part over a campaign.”

The team travel to Langdon on Saturday.
