The Jurassic Coast 10k is a fund raiser for the cancer charity, FORCE and held over terrain familiar to many Exmouth Harriers from club training runs, writes Dave Eveleigh.
The course has its share of hills and it was hot too. From early in the race the pace was set by Exmouth’s Mike Musgrove, chased hard by Marc Cox who pushed the former to a fine time of 37:35, an impressive figure on a tough course.
Cox’s time was 38:14 putting him just over 150 metres behind Musgrove who also finished first V40 man and second in that category was Jon Garrity who was sixth overall and dipped under 40 minutes with 39:31.
Not far behind Garrity was Ellie Sutcliffe and Scott Jordan, the former again mixing it with the male runners at the front of the race. She finished eighth overall, first woman, in 40:26.
She was also very pleased to set a new women’s course record. Scott Jordan won a sprint to the line to finish 34th in 46:27.
There were getting on for 250 runners so the Harriers were all impressively well up the field. Not running but popping up all over the course to offer much appreciated support were Harriers Emma Dupain, Moira Glen, Adam Miller and Carly Audritt.
