Mighty Monaghan as Comets see off Replay

Comets were in good form for their Exmouth Netball League meeting with Replay that they won 58-36, writes Katy Burch.

In a bright start, Comets took an early lead when they won the ball from a Replay centre pass and, by the end of the first quarter, they held a nine-goal lead.

Replay made a substitution and positional changes to start the second quarter, but Comets kept the pressure on with accurate passing and shooting in the circle area, finishing the quarter holding a commanding 34-18 advantage.

Replay made positional changes again to start the third quarter, but an all-round team effort kept Comets ahead and they increased their lead further to be ahead by 34 goals to 18.

During the final quarter both teams gave 100 per cent effort, but it was Comets, with the exceptional shooting of Cara Monaghan and Tracey Abbott – the pair rarely missed a shot during the contest – who continued to dominate and they ran out worthy winners.

The Player of the Match awards went to Sadie Moran for Replay and Cara Monaghan for Comets.
