Otterton 3, Langdon 2
The fact that Otterton got their Budden Westinsure Devon Intermediate Cup area semi-final played owed much to the efforts of club stalwart Andy Mitchell who spent much of Friday evening and Saturday morning forking the surface to help water drain!
The Otters went into the game having not tasted action since the turn of the year and, on a heavy pitch against a good opposition side, knew they had to be on top of their game to make further progress in the competition.
The game started with a flurry of action and just five minutes in cross-field ball from defender Nick Tweedie fell to the feet of Pitt who squared the ball to find his strike partner Ryan Mitchell who smashed the ball into the bottom corner from 15 yards to give Otterton a dream start.
The visitors proved their quality when they quickly levelled and then, seizing on an uncharacteristic mistake from the Otters keeper took a 2-1 lead – all this inside the first ten minutes of the match!
The Otters began to take control and were unlucky not to draw level as Yeomans, Pitt and Ryan and Lee Mitchell all went close before, in the 25th minute, parity was restored with Lee Mitchell thumping the ball home to complete the first half scoring.
Otterton began the second half well, but the visitors also carried a threat which the home defence of Iddon, Thomas, Tweedie and Rolls did well to combat.
Pitt and Yeomans both saw shots turned away by the Langdon gloves man, but the home place in the area final for the second successive season was confirmed when, with three minutes remaining skipper Lee Mitchell took the ball of a visiting defender and slammed the ball home.

Otterton are delighted to have received backing from local company A and J Carpenters who have come up with funding for a new strip which the players should be wearing in the coming weeks. The players and management and everyone connected with the club would like to say a big thank you to Alan and John at the company.
