Club secretary was quick post match to publicly thank the contingent from visitors Beer Albion for making this possible.

Regarding the outcome of the match, it depends on where your allegiance lies, whether you believe a draw to be a fair result, as both teams claimed they should have won it. Budleigh, at home for the eighth time out of nine games, were dictating most of the first half proceedings, thus taking a 20 minute lead from Mike Pidgeon following a headed flick from a throw-in. It was becoming an intriguing contest, surprisingly with no more goals being scored before James Melville’s equalizer on the stroke of half time.

Passions ran high, but the match official had an outstanding game, calming things down with calmness and authority.

It was Beer who now put their noses in front following a free-kick, a lapse in concentration left Luke Bartlett an empty net to tap in a soft goal.

The Robins then introduced Aiden Martin, making a most welcome return to action from injury. Coming on as a late substitute, he soon made his presence felt, linking well with his fellow midfielders, and it was he who got the final touch in a goalmouth scramble to level things up at 2-2 in the 77th minute.

Both side then went in search of a winning goal. However, neither could undo the others disciplined defence save for when Beer looked set to bag a win only for Robins glovesman Jordan Hockhold to produce a one-handed save low down by his right hand goalpost, earning him praises from teammates and opponent alike.

It also went a long way in making the Man of the Match a joint affair between himself and Callum Shipton within Budleigh’s ranks.
