Another period of unsociable weather, but we all strive to get out to play, writes John Bridgman.

The seniors winter eclectic came to an end on March 31, with Tony Marshall and Doug Budgeon respective winners of Division’s One and Two.

Thirty-two players committed themselves on a day when the weather caused the restriction of golf carts and trollies and some ground under repair areas.

Nevertheless it brought about a definite conclusion in Division One for Tony Marshall who scored 41 points.

Second place went to John Man with 38 points and third was Andrzej Sobczak on 34. Division Two saw a good win for Doug Budgeon with 38, and Robin Drake 33 and Ray Dwan 32 in second and third places. Well done, to Tony and Doug for staying the course as the eventual winners, and the ‘also rans” for their participation through thick and thin, as they say!

Last Saturday, a club individual stableford competition was held. Division One (handicaps one to 11) was won by Den Hayes with 39 points, Harvey Jones 37, and Ben Sandry 36 came second and third.

Division Two (handicaps 12 to 18) was won by David Dickinson with39, second, with 37, came David Verdon-Smith with Alex Freer 35.

The Third Division (handicap 19 and above), saw Steve Robb win with 43 points. Second (on countback) also with 43 points was Duane Greenslade. Third place was taken by Ray Phare with 40 points.

On a final note it is fair to say that the varying weather systems we have experienced lately have brought difficult decisions for the course manager and his team, and we must respect his managerial skills to enable us all to enjoy our golf on what we know will be an excellent venue.
