East Budleigh Reserves 2, Silverton 2
This was a very ring rusty display from Budleigh whose lack of match action showed, writes Mark Auton.
The first fifteen minutes was encouraging as Dan Atkinson struck a post, but it was the visitors who went ahead after 19 minutes.
Four minutes later a good fun from Greg Konopka led to him being upended and it was Alex Manning who calmly slotted home the penalty.
Budleigh continued to pepper the away goal: A fine centre from Steve Davey saw Atkinson go close before Budleigh took the lead; Manning’s corner scooped into the net by the industrious Ben Wyatt.
With Budleigh comfortable slackness from the hosts led to Silverton getting their second just before the break.
The second period was lack lustre as both sides found it hard to create chances; A good exchange between Neil Kearsley and Ben Wyatt saw the former drive a shot just over.
Late on Matt Jones fired into the side netting as the sides shook on a share of the spoils.
For Budleigh Ben Wyatt was their best player.
Budleigh will look to up their game this Saturday when they have another home fixture against Stoke Hill at Vicarage Road (3pm).
