The Coronation Cup played at Madeira last Tuesday, writes David Macaulay.
A splendid day was enjoyed by visiting teams from Exonia, Heavitree, Phear Park, Feniton. Budleigh and Sidmouth who faced off against six teams from Madeira,
The competition was played over six sets of four ends so every home team played each visiting side.
When the final scores were in, higher maths came into operation to determine the winners.
However, there were only two teams with ten points each, one from Madeira and the team from Heavitree.
The winners were the Madeira team skipped by Francis Newton with Ken Roberts, George Perrin and Nigel Denner with a shot difference of plus 25 compared with Heavitree’s shot difference of plus six.
The Coronation Cup was played in the true spirit of bowling, with every point hard earned and the continued friendship maintained between all the clubs concerned.
