Devon will now play Warwickshire in the quarter-finals at Portishead on July 12.

After the last round of the John’s Trophy, two Madeira Ladies were presented with certificates for outstanding achievement in playing for Devon in this event - Jan Roberts having played in this event 25 times and Liz Smerdon an incredible 75 times.

Sue Wilcox, the president of Tavistock Sir Francis Drake, visited Madeira this week to present a trophy to two Madeira Ladies and their other halves for winning the Tavistock Tournament which was played in June and in which 20 teams from Devon and Cornwall took part.

Deidre Norman and Madeira captain Richard Prince together with Alan and Lin Halpin were delighted to win this event by beating a team from Bere Alston by one shot in the final.
