Madeira has been a busy place over the festive period.
In the county fours Janet Allen, Pat Cain, Sandy Cox and Jean Rainton were 27-13 victors over Shirley Rose and her team at Sidmouth.
Back at Madeira, in the ladies championship, Catherine King won 21–15 against Dee Norman.
In another match in the same competition Brenda Marks made progress at the expense of Jenny Smith thanks to a 21-16 win.
There was more success for Catherine King when she partnered Jan Roberts in the County Pair’s, the duo winning 21-12 against Jean Brimson and Eileen Hewitt at Sidmouth.
Sunday saw the start of a new open triples competition to play for the trophy Keith Ewins kindly donated. Eight triples won through in a hotly contested first round.
Last, but certainly not least, it’s well done to the Madeira Men’s Over-60s (but clearly not yet over the hill), club double rink who triumphed over Moonfleet 2000 to go through to the last eight of the National Mens Over-60 Inter Club Double Rink competition where they will face either Mid Glos or West Berks.
In the way part of the contest Ken Roberts, Mick Powell, Mike Gorman and Cliff Skinner won by one shot whilst back at Madeira Jim Bradford, Terry Reardon, Bob Burch and John Flockhart drew giving Madeira the win.
Finally, from all at Madeira a very happy and successful 2013 to all, on and off the green!
