Madeira ladies defeat Honiton in Foxlands match

Last week was another busy one for the Madeira ladies.

They were 24 shot winners in a lane Trophy encounter when they faced Exonia.

In the home element of the contest there was a 24-11 win for Jean Bagnall, Janet Gosling, Lin Halpin and skip May Dyson and a 31-9 triumph for skip Nikki Fiddimore together with Janet Grundy, Fay Hughes and Dee Williams.

In the away leg Freda Relph, Penny Preece, Ann Doidge together with skip Thelma Wildon won 21-11, but there was a 19-9 defeat for Jan Worsfold, Jenny Charles, Margaret Humphrey and skip Carole Worth Down.

A Foxlands match with Honiton saw Madeira win 86-64.

In the home section there was a 27-13 win for Angela Denner, Deidre Norman, Janine Orchard and skip Sue Harriott whilst Jan Roberts, Jenny Smith, Brenda Marks and skip Catherine King won 26-12.

In the away part of the match Jill Perrin, Veda Bevan, Jean Rainton and Jacky Howle shared a 19-19 draw whilst Christine Macaulay, Sandie Cox, Annette Flockhart and skip Liz Smerdon lost 20-14.

In the Ladies Devon Top Club competition they were involved in a seriously close encounter with Honiton that saw them lose by a single shot. At home there was a 22-12 win for J Roberts in the 4-wood and a 19-13 defeat for D Norman, B Marks and C King in the triples.

In the away element of the match C Macaulay and L Smerdon went down 15-16 but there was a 23-17 in the rinks section for J Perrin, V Bevan, J Rainton and J Howle won 23-17

In the County 4s Jan Roberts, Christine Macaulay, Liz Smerdon and Catherine King won 23-8 against their club mates Janet Allen Sandy Cox Janine Orchard and Jean Rainton and will now play Pearl Hackwood and her team in the section final.
