Madeira ladies bag last eight berth in the Yetton Trophy

Madeira ladies had a memorable result last week with a win over Thornbury that sees them into the last eight of the Yetton trophy.

In the home section of the match there was a 28-9 triumph for the rink of Jill Perrin, Veda Bevan, Jean Rainton and Jacky Howle and a 22-16 victory for Dee Williams, Angela Denner, Janine Orchard and Sue Harriott 22.

In the away section Christine Macaulay, Sandie Cox, Annette Flockhart and Liz Smerdon claimed a whopping 30-8 success whilst there was a 20-12 reversal suffered by Jan Roberts, Jenny Smith, Brenda Marks and Catherine King 12 – 20.

In a Lane Trophy fixture against Plymouth there was a 24-13 defeat for the the rink of Jan Worsfold, Jenny Charles, Carole Worth and Val Allam, but success for Jose Glaister, Penny Preece, Ann Doidge and Thelma Wildon who won 15-13.

It was a victorious trip for the players playing the away leg of the match with a 23-13 success for Lin Halpin, Janet Gosling, Jean Bagnall and May Dyson whilst Dee Williams, Fay Hughes, Janet Grundy and Nikki Fiddimore won 19-12.

There’s set to be a big game in the County Pairs section final when Liz Smerdon and Sue Harriott play Jan Roberts and Catherine King.

Last, but certainly not least this week, the Madeira coaching staff will be available from 4.30pm to 7 pm each and every Friday if you would like to try your hand at bowling!
