The Madeira Friendship Drive in aid of the club’s benevolent fund was held in midweek with six rinks taking part, writes Jenny Smith.
The scoring was three for shot; two for second bowl and one for third so this resulted in some impressive scores and the winning team was Vic Doidge’s with Pat Wilkins and Margaret Whittle who won 79-47.
The last mixed friendly of the season was at home against Dawlish Marina and resulted in a decisive win for the home team.
Angela Denner skipped her team of man-of-the-match Roy Marshall, Joyce Coggin and Greg Fish to an incredible 36-4 victory.
Madeira won three of the four rinks and 99-46 overall.
Madeira’s team E did well in the Over-60s league coming top of Division 8 and will therefore play in Division 7 next year.
Those playing in Team C are disappointed to be relegated to Division 6 next year. The other teams were placed about midway in their leagues.
The successful Team E comprised: Frank Allen, Alan Halpin, John Bellamy, Michael Boman, Gordon Medlock, Charles Darke, B Pemberton, Vic Doidge, Richard Prince and Bob Finch.
