Madeira see off touring side Watford and District Bowling Association.

In Division One the A team sit fourth and the B team are ninth.
Team E remain second in Division Six whilst Team C are in a similar berth in Division Seven.
Team D are currently fourth in Division Eight, but for all, teams there’s plenty of the season remaining in their respective divisions’!
Four teams of triples went of to Sidmouth, but as I have no cards for the game I don’t know the final score, all I can say is that Madeira won the day and the top rink consisted of John Bellamy, Graham Clarkson and Colin Hughes.

In the National Top Club Madeira men took on Culm Vale who are a very strong team, so it was very pleasing that the Madeira side claimed another good win. This now means that they next take on United Services of Barnstaple and here’s hoping for another favourable result!
Last Saturday marked the start of the Club Men’s Triples competition and once again results to come as the competition progresses.
It has been a good week for the mixed teams this past week. First up Ardagh travelled down from Bristol with 11 rinks for a meeting that ended in a very close win for Madeira by three shots at 196-193.
As always the match was played in good spirit and the top Madeira rink was skipped by Diedre Norman with Ian Sowdon, Dave Bagnall and Pat Wilkins winning 28-12.
The Watford and District Bowling Association were next up on their Devon tour for this, their first visit since 1991.
The teams are all drawn from seven different clubs, all part of the Association.
There was plenty of trepidation amongst the Madeira folk as the opposition looked pretty strong.
However, it was Madeira who prevailed thanks to a 41 shot success and a 108-67 score line.
Apparently the visitors had endured a hard night on the whisky the night before, it appears to be a good tour!
The top rink for Madeira was Lyn Eveleigh, Ian Sowdon (again) Alan Porter all skipped by Catherine King scoring 33 shots to 12.
Tiverton Borough took a drive down the M5 with four teams of triples for the annual match and bit the dust as Madeira took the game by 50 shots at 81-31.
The top rink of Mike Ball, Anne Doidge and Sandy Cox won by 17 shots at 25-8.
The return match is scheduled to be held on August 25.
