Madeira outdoor captains conclude a fabulous season with large cheque presentation to charity

Madeira 2013 captain's Brenda Marks and David Macaulay present a cheque for £1,000 to Bridgit Hill of MacMillan Cancer support.

Brenda Marks and David Macaulay had the privilege of being the outdoor captains for the Madeira Bowls Club for the 2013 summer season.

It is the captains choice each year who we would like to benefit from the fund raising efforts carried on throughout the summer.

The 2013 captains opted for MacMillan Cancer support as the main benefactor and the charity were recently presented with a cheque for £1,000.

David Macaulay says: “Brenda and I would like to thank every one concerned for all contributions, but a special mention must be to thank the Royal Beacon Hotel in Exmouth for their generous voucher for Dinner, Bed and Breakfast for two. This one item raised a wonderful £514. We also ran an ongoing grand draw throughout the summer and the winning ticket was selected at random by the Devon County President Mr Edgar Melluish on his visit to the club on September 28. The winner came from the Long Ashton Club near Bristol.”

Macaulay concluded: “We will also be sending a cheque to the Motor Neuron Research Foundation for £400 to help with their valuable research.”
