Although most of the county games are now under way Madeira have drawn byes in both the Top Club and Foxlands competitions so await forthcoming matches, writes Matt Marriott.

The final of the county fours group B saw Bill Davis win over Ray McDonald by 21shots to six.

In the county mixed pairs Mike and Brenda Marks won through to the quarter finals.

The Tuesday/Thursday triples, after two weeks of action, sees teams one and six holding two point leads. There are plenty of matches to go and I am also reliably informed that in the Over 60s competition the E team have won all their matches played so far so must be top of their league!

However, I still have just one card submitted by Madeira D who only managed two points in their meeting with Chardstock B.

There were visits from two team last week. First up Topsham came with six rinks, but found Madeira too strong as a 33 shot winning margin was realised at 126-93.

The top rink of the day was skipped by George Perrin with Margaret Radcliffe, Bernie Andrews and Jenny Charles with a score of 26-6. As always this was a game played in good spirit.

The next to call were our friends from Braeside from the New Forest on their 26th annual day visit.

They seem to like it in Exmouth! This despite Madeira winning by 66 shots with the final score being 222-156.

Bob Burch led his team of Debbie Fox, Janet Grundy and Mark Stephens to a 38-5 win. The visitors have said they’ll be back again next year!

We hope they enjoyed their stop off for a meal on the way home.
