A 12-year-old Lympstone schoolboy is on course to play for England, writes Dave Beasley.
Prolific goalscorer James Doble will be getting three days off school to play for the regions football team.
He has been selected for the ISFA (Independent Schools Football Association) U13 South West squad.
James earned his selection following a recent trial match between a representative South West side and Exeter City’s Academy, with whom he has been training.
The St Peter’s Preparatory School pupil will link up and the rest of the South West team to play in the Shrewsbury Football Festival on March 25, 26 and 27.
And if things go well, he could force his way into the full England Prep School squad, with the possibility of being chosen to play for the U14 ISFA England side next year.
Mum Stephanie said: “We are all thrilled for James – even his older brother is - and the family will be going up to Shrewsbury School to cheer him on.”
Clearly, for this talented youngster, the end of term just can’t come soon enough.
