The first show of the season for Lympstone ABC was a great success with a sell out crowd enjoying 17 competitive bouts of boxing.

There was a bit of ring rust amongst the Lympstone boxers on the evening which resulted in some split decisions not going their way.

However, they did bag a brace of wins on the night with Freddie Ashford and Matt Garnett the4 victorious home boxers.

Freddie had a schoolboy contest against Roarie Herd from Tiverton ABC, and produced a unanimous win with an impressive performance of solid jabs, tactical boxing and great footwork.

Matt Garnett also came out a winner in his junior bout against Jack Ronchetti from Exeter ABC after a hard fought contest between the two.

Also competing on the night, were boxers from the Royal Marines, some from Lympstone who have been training at the club and some travelling down from Scotland to compete.

It was an absolute privilege to welcome with them two D-Day veterans, both of whom had competed themselves in their day!

The two veterans were welcomed into the ring at the start of the show to commence what was to be a great night of boxing.
