The Lyme Regis Rover Cup produced a very thrilling finish as three players were level with 38 points and countback was required to determine the winners, writes Richard Jackman.

Ultimately it is was David Binns who took the honours edging Mark Taylor and Paul Hampton into second and third places respectively.

The ladies’ held their open competition on Thursday and this was a great success. Meanwhile, at Isle of Purbeck Golf Club, Jane Southcombe from Lyme Regis Golf Club became the winner of the Dorset Seniors Open with the best gross score, and also won the Holmes Cup, a brilliant performance from Jane, who is having a great run of form at the moment.

Jane Dixon finished ninth in the gross and Caroline Baker finished seventh in the nett competition. All this should set the bar very high for the ladies 36-hole championship next Thursday.

Entry forms are now available for the annual Candles on the Cobb golf day on Wednesday, May 28. To enjoy a great day out supporting this wonderful charity please contact the Lyme Regis Golf Club office for an entry form while spaces are still available!
