The Fast Friday race on Exeter’s Quayside on Good Friday did in fact turn out to be a fast race for the contingent from Exmouth Harriers, writes Cathy Newman.

The club was led home by Jamie Palmer in a new personal best of 33:43 for fourth place overall and first V45, then came Ryan Snell with 34:34 in sixth place.

The real sensation however, was Robert Ellis, who he took 37 seconds off a 10 year old personal best in finishing seventh in 34:48.

Ever consistent, Simon Minting followed closely with 34:56 whilst Alison White had yet another V60 win with 49:54.

The next day three more runners recorded personal bests, this time at Killerton Park Run.

Sam Kelly finished third overall in 17:45, mother Nicola Kelly was 14th female with 24:35 and Ellis Bown, the club’s youngest member, recorded 36:59. There were 456 finishers in this increasingly popular regular Saturday event.

On Sunday a big contingent from the club will be taking part in the London Marathon, if the conditions are good there could be yet more personal bests.
