Galmpton 3, Budleigh Salterton 5
Budleigh served up a superb second half all-round show to turn round a two goal half-time deficit and deservedly bag the points, writes Alan Beer.
The Robins had taken an early lead in most of their earlier games and it looked as if the same would happen at Galmpton.
In the opening 10 minutes several chances were missed with crosses through the six-yard box and Carl Everest heading narrowly over from a corner.
On 15 minutes the hosts had their first chance but Alex Bayliss shot wide. Budleigh again went close when Brett Wright found Jack Greenslade wide on the right.
His first time volley was pushed away by Nick Lamsin in the home goal.
Just before the half hour mark, and completely against the run of play, Galmpton took the lead when Dan Rankin curled in a shot from 20 yards.
The lead was doubled as Steven Bowker headed home from a corner. Just before the break The Robins went close to reducing the deficit.
Liam Ellis beat the keeper only to see the ball rebound from a post.
Things changed in a 15 minute period at the start of the second half. Mark Lever scored twice to level it and when Greenslade was brought down in the box Danny Williams made no mistake from 12 yards.
Again Budleigh endured a spell of missed chances mid way through the half. With five minutes remaining Greenslade set up Ellis who found the net from 18 yards out.
The home side again came back when a loose ball fell for Bayliss to touch in from close range.
With the score now 4-3 to Budleigh the contest moved into added-on time.
With three minutes of that played George Pannell, on as a sub, broke through the home defence and made no mistake firing past Lamsin to complete the scoring
Budleigh team: Pullin, Hancock, Carr, Everest, Nield, Sale, Ellis, Wright, Lever, Greenslade, Williams; Subs; Turner, Pannell (both played)
On Saturday Budleigh entertain Chard United in the Graddon Vending Devon Premier Cup (2pm).
