Terror Pins and Milers met in a Woodbury and District Skittles League meeting at the Feathers Inn, writes SpursTom.

It was a late replacement who turned out to be the match winner for the Terror Pins skittles team!

Linda Hicks was drafted in at the last moment to complete the Terror Pins line-up for their first outing since a cup defeat at the hands of League A outfit Exiles in mid-December.

The hosts took the first leg only for the visitors to take the next and this set the tone for a very even contest which left the outcome in doubt until the very last throw of the evening!

Before we got to that phase of the match Mrs Hicks had obtained a spare at a critical stage in the seventh leg, helping her to record her highest score ever and for the first time land the award of the Terror Pins Player of the Night. What’s more boosted by the Hicks total Terror Pins took the final leg by a single pin to secure a two pin victory!

It was definitely ladies night for the next best score for Terror Pins was Irene Yates. Added to that the leading player on the night was Gale Hawke of the Milers, who knocked down more pins than anyone on either team. After the match a representative from the Milers congratulated the teams on a thoroughly sporting and close contest in what was the inaugural match between the sides.

Ending on a happy note especially for myself as he first introduced me to the game, it was so pleasing to see Terror Pins vice-captain Merv Handford for the first time this season, even though he was only visiting as he is still undergoing medical treatment.
