Knapton a clear winner of the East Devon ladies’ section June medal meeting.

Linda Knapton was the clear winner of the ladies May Medal at East Devon Golf club last week, writes Helen Chivers.

Knapton produced an excellent, five under par round of nett 69 to comprehensively beat the other 62 ladies who entered the England Golf medal this month. Her score also saw her come top of bronze division and claim the Palmer Cup.

Behind Linda in bronze division, Pippa Norman recorded a three under par nett 71 in second place, with Sarah Jones in third with a nett 73. Lisa Humphries level par nett 74 saw her claim fourth place ahead of Deirdre Mackness in fifth with a nett 75.

Alison Corney led the way in silver division with a nett 73, with Sue Fowler beating Jill Dunsford into second spot on countback as they both recorded nett 74’s.

New member Claire Dowling took fourth place with nett 75 on countback from Carole Brailey.
